District Governor

Di joined Rotary in 2009 after the attendance laws were changed and women were accepted into the organization as members. I know I would have joined before but circumstances did not allow.

Di was the first female member of Tamworth Rotary Club and their first female president. She partnered Ken during his term on the Governor train and shared valuable experiences with him such as attending the Council on Legislation in Chicago and the DG training. I am looking forward to being part of the new Rotary world and being there firsthand to witness the changes, and hopefully assist Rotarians in accepting and working with the new world to their own advantage and the benefit of Rotarians and their communities.

Di is used to change! Her career in the Department of Education has been constant since 1967. Recently, actively working with students to produce large-scale events such as CAPERS and School Spectacular, festivals, concerts and international tours have all been influenced annually by changes of policies and laws. It was the Greek philosopher Heraclitus, who said ‘nothing is constant but change’. John Bulger added in 2016 that ‘People come first’.

At the club level, Di is currently Executive Secretary, Youth Protection Officer, and Bulletin Editor in the Rotary E Club in District 9660, a club which began its journey in District 9650. As a member of Tamworth Rotary Club, she held the positions of President and Secretary, amongst other board responsibilities.

At a District level, Di has been chair of Rotaract, Alumni, Friendship Exchange, and NYSF. She is also a member of the Technology Committee. She was Public Relations Director, Club Administration Director and a member of the Youth Exchange Committee in District 9650. Di has been the Directory editor for many PDGs and was chair of the first District 9660 District Conference in Tamworth in 2023.

Di has attended many district and International Conferences and values friendships from around the world resulting from hosting Youth Exchange students, attending, and hosting Friendship exchange teams. I love the internationality of our organization. Di & Ken have hosted exchange students from around the world since 1988, visited many in their hometowns, and now keep in touch through social media.

Di and Ken have 3 married adult ‘children’ who are successful in different careers and have added 7 beautiful grandchildren. It is very satisfying that we enjoy their company, their successes, and their love and to know that we played a positive part in their lives. She is enjoying retirement, and that has given me the time to take this opportunity.

District Governor Elect

For over 40 years, Peter has been a change agent working in New Zealand, the UK, and Australia. He has gathered a wealth of experience as a practitioner and policy consultant in fields such as grief and loss, couples and family relationship counselling, supporting people with disabilities, and in the residential sectors of foster care, youth detention centres, and child protection. Peter is a group facilitator who has delivered workshops, written and delivered training packages for child protection agencies, service organisations, and small groups. Furthermore, Peter has presented conference papers and training sessions on relationships and change management. He is also a trained and experienced conflict resolution mediator.

Peter has been a member of the Central Coast Local Health District Ethics and Research Committee. Recently, he served as a committee member of the Allied Health Reference Group for Hunter New England and the Central Coast Primary Health Network. Peter presently works in private practice as an Accredited Mental Health Social Work Counsellor.

Peter’s communication skills bring together diverse groups of people to work towards a common goal, aligning with the 2025-2026 theme, Unite for Good.

Peter is very fortunate to have his wife, Georgina and his daughter Eleni also in the same Rotary club as him. Peter also has three other children, Shayne, Stavri and Yannis and two in-laws, Bronte and Jayden.

Immediate Past District Governor

Evan has been an active part of the Rotary family for nearly 25 years, serving many of those years as a dedicated Rotaractor, now Rotarian.

He grew up in Manly on Sydney’s Northern Beaches where he toiled in the soil to become a qualified horticulturalist and had a dream opportunity to work at the famous Taronga Zoo! After a few career changes and a stint working for Rotary Down Under magazine, Evan now works as a bus driver in the Newcastle/Hunter region. In his spare time he continues to build his career as an actor and has featured in advertisements for brands such as Budget Direct Insurance, AFL, Aldi, Nescafe, and Cadbury Chocolate.

Evan began his Rotary journey as a fresh-faced 18 year old in 1999 as a member of Rotaract in District 9685 and was an active Rotaractor till the age of 30, before joining Rotary full time as a member in 2011. Before joining the Rotary Club of Greenhills Maitland, he was a member of the Rotary club of Turramurra and was active in their graffiti removal project and the “Jumbo Joy flight” for sick and disadvantaged children.

He is a two-time past president, leading Australia’s first online club, the Rotary e club of Greater Sydney and then most recently the Rotary Club of The Ponds, “the first Rotary coffee club of Australia”.

Evan has also served Rotary beyond the club and district level as an Assistant Rotary Public Image Coordinator for Zone 8 and a past member of several RI committees such as the Communications Committee, Rotaract & Interact Committee and the 2018 Rotary International Toronto Convention Promotions Committee.

Evan is an accomplished public speaker, emcee, trainer, social media advocate and he is in high demand as an “outside the box” international speaker, with requests for his perspective coming from all over the world. He is able to present serious issues such as inter-generational engagement, membership, public image and marketing in a humorous and fun way which leaves participants feeling inspired, engaged and motivated.

One of Evan’s great skills is that he uses social media to show that Rotarians are not only making a positive difference in the world, but they are having fun doing it! He presents Rotary in a lighter more personally engaging way, showing the fun and humorous side to our organisation. He is very active on social media and grabs people’s attention, member and non-member alike on these platforms. This makes the idea of Rotary more relatable, especially to new generations, who are avid users of social media.

Evan has three sons, a boisterous young James, Sam and a very welcomed new addition in baby Felix. Evan and his partner, Kath, live in lovely laid-back Newcastle – or ‘Newie’ as it’s affectionately known and spend what little free time they have swimming, dominating at pub trivia and indulging in degustation dinners. Evan’s message is “Let’s have fun in Rotary” and it’s with this message that has him passionately promoting Rotary at every turn.
